One gem in the ACT! feature list that I use all the time is the OleDB provider. This allows you to connect to ACT! data from applications like Excel. And the best part is that it comes as part ad parcel of ACT!
Here is a simple walkthrough on how to connect to ACT! data from ACT!.
Open Microsoft Excel...In Excel, perform the following steps...
Step 1: Choose Data...Import External data...Import Data
Step 2: Create a new source
Step 3: Choose "Other/Advanced" for kind of data source
Step 4: Choose the ACT! OLEDB Provider
Step 5: Choose your ACT! database and user name password. Test the connection
Step 6: Choose to connect to database, but "un-check" the specific table (this way you are promoted for which table you want to import each time)
Step 7: Save the connection file
(Note that now you have a saved connection, you can use this in any future Excel spreadsheet. That is you only have to do the steps above once)
Step 8: Open the Data Source
Step 9: Choose the table you want to link
Now that you have the data in Excel, you can have a lot of fun with summaries / pivot tables and charts.
I have included an Excel example below showing what could be done...
