With the launch of Sage ACT! 2013 around the corner, I’m hoping you are excited about a few of the new features to be included, like Smart Task enhancements, further Social Media integration, and mobile access to your contacts, calendar, and opportunities! For more information about what will be included, check out the latest edition of ACT!ion eNews. Mobility has been trending pretty hot, so I am going to review some resources you may use to get Sage ACT! Premium (access via web) installed on your server.

Installing Sage ACT! Premium (access via web) and Mobile

Installing Sage ACT! Premium (access via web) requires:

  • A computer/server that meets the minimum system requirements: http://na.sage.com/Sage-ACT/products/system/2013/
  • Microsoft ® Internet Information Services installed
  • A unique user account called an Impersonation Account created in the Windows® Domain Active Directory, or Local Machine Users and Groups tool.

For more information about installing Sage ACT! Premium (access via web), and creating an impersonation account, refer to the Sage ACT! Premium 2013 (access via web) Web Administrator's Guide:

After Sage ACT! Premium (access via web) is installed, you must test various ASP.NET related accounts/services, and add a database to publish to remote users. For specific steps, refer to the Web Administrator’s Guide, pg. 12-13.

Finally, you will need to configure any firewalls that sit between remote users and the web server to ensure they are able to access the web server and database. For additional information about configuring your firewall to enable external clients access to an internal server, refer to your firewall documentation, or Sage ACT! KB 24728:

When the previous steps have been completed, remote users have two options for accessing the Sage ACT! Premium (access via web) server and database:

From a remote PC/desktop computer, they may open either Microsoft ® Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox® and browse to http://server/apfw (where server is replaced with the public IP address or domain name of the web server). Examples:

From a compatible mobile device such asiPad®, /iPhone®, or Android™ device browsers, browse to http://server/apfw/m (where server is replaced with the public IP address or domain name of the web server). Examples:

If all that sounds a bit complex, you can get Sage ACT! Premium (access via web) set up, or hosted for you with help from a Sage ACT! Certified Consultant! Find one near you by clicking the following link:
