When people do a keyword search – for instance for “Social Media Marketing Experts” and your name appears first, that gives you the first opportunity to stand out from the crowd – it allows you to be found by people looking for what are an expert in.

You can optimize your profile to rank higher on LinkedIn following these simple steps

  1. Think of a few keywords that define you and your business and write those down – here are some examples:
    • Real Estate agent in Phoenix, Arizona
    •  Financial adviser in Dallas, Texas
    • Social Media Marketing expert in Miami, Florida
    • Mobile Product Manager
    • User Experience Designer and Design Analyst
  2. There are six places on your profile where you should add your keywords. Go to your LinkedIn profile on LinkedIn and click ‘Edit Profile’, then add your keywords in the following 6 places
    • Professional "Headline"– MOST IMPORTANT
    • Experience - Current
    • Experience - Past
    • Summary - Professional Experience & Goals
    • Summary – Specialties
    • Skills – find skills that best match your keywords
  3. I hope that very quickly, if not immediately – you’ll be ranked much higher on LinkedIn people search

Next time I’ll give you some tips on how to turn this high rank into new prospects :-)

I would love to hear your experience with applying this simple yet powerful strategy, did you rank higher on LinkedIn?

Thanks,
