Fast Tip Friday: Sending Google Gmail in Sage ACT! #SageACT

In the past few weeks, we’ve spent some time learning about the really useful Google integration features such as Contact, Calendar, and Gmail History integration in Sage ACT! 2012. If you are an avid Gmail user, you may want to send Gmail from a contact record, rather than having to open your web browser, log in to Gmail, address a message, and then send it. The Web Info tab in Sage ACT! is a built-in browser that may be customized to pass Sage ACT! data to remote web sites. Using this clever tip, you can create a custom link for Gmail and send messages directly from a contact record. Here’s how!

 

Sending Gmail from the Web Info Tab:

 


To create a Gmail message for the current contact from the Web Info tab:

 

1. Look up a Contact.

 

2. Click on the Web Info tab.

 

3. Click Edit Links.

 

 

4. Click Add.

 

5. For the Site Name, type in "Send Gmail", or other name that you would like to use.

 

6. For the URL, copy and paste the following link: https://mail.google.com/mail/?view=cm&fs=1&tf=1&to={E-mail}.

 

7. Click OK to save.


8. To send a Gmail message to your contact, navigate to a contact record, and on the Web Info tab, select the Send Gmail link you previously created.

 

 

9. Type a subject and body for the message, and then send it.

 

After you send the message, it will be recorded in the contact's history according to the Gmail History Integration preferences you have set in the Google Integration Preferences tool.

Hi,

 

In ACT! for Web i get a 404 error.

https not allowed?

if i choose open in browser there is an extra 'http://' added so the link is http://https:/mail...etc.

 

any ideas how to fix this?

Can I send mail out using outlook and have the return email all come to Gmail?

That way I could use mailmerge and so forth on outgoing mails. I could have

emailName@somedomain.com

and reply to

emailName@gmail.com

Would something like that work?

Or would something like that be blocked.

olanjouw: This was a bug in an old build. Should be fixed now

 

poweruser: Yes, you can connect Outlook to Gmail and use Outlook from ACT!. Or have emails going from Outlook with the ReplyTo set to Gmail. As to if it will work or be blocked ... that depends on the number you are sending and on the rules used for spam with those you send to

I send an email using this process but it is the email, though sent and shows up in my gmail as sent, is not recorded under the contact's history.  How do I fix so the email shows in the contact's history?
