If you prefer to use Gmail as your email client of choice, but have limited using it due to lack of integration with Sage ACT!, you’re in luck! In addition to Contact and Calendar integration, Sage ACT! 2012 may be configured to record history of Google Gmail sent/received so you never lose track of important messages shared between you and your clients. In this tip, you’ll learn how to configure Gmail History Integration in Sage ACT! 2012.

Configuring Gmail History Integration:

1. Open Tools > Integrate with Google > Google Integration Preferences

2. After selecting a Sage ACT! database, and authorizing it to access your Google account, click the Record History tab.

3. Select the Enable Gmail History Recording check box. This activates the other options on the tab.

4. Under When Sending Gmail, keep the default history type, or select another from the list. Your selection will determine the level of detail recorded to the History tab of a contact record.

  • If you do not want other Sage ACT! users to see the history of the email message, select the Make history private check box.

5. Under When Receiving Gmail, keep the default history type, or select another from the list.

  • If you do not want other Sage ACT! users to see the history of the email message, select the Make history private check box.

6. To not have histories of emails recorded to your Sage ACT! contact record, click the Exclude My Record from history check box. By selecting the Exclude My Record option, email history will not be recorded to your contact record for any emails that were sent/received from/to your email address.

7. Click OK.

8. When the message appears to integrate with Google now, click Yes to proceed, or click No.

If you set a schedule to automatically integrate with Google, integration will run at the scheduled time. Or, you can run Google integration manually from the Tools menu or system tray at any time.
