When you create a new company and restrict access, it should not allow lower level users (i.e. users who haven't been given access rights) to see the listed companies they do not have access to. Further it should not allow the lower level user to see the divisions attached to the company. Currently in the 2011 version the lower level user (those who to not have access rights) can expand the company to see all divisions even though they do not have access rights. It is my feeling this should not be allowed if they do not have access rights to the record.
You might be correct but I believe they can see the name but not all of the attached contacts or history etc. The real benefit to having them see the names is to avoid creating duplicates. IMHO
You are correct that they can only see the name. By doing this it doesn't allow confidential information to be entered. If you don't want them seeing the company name chances are they are not going to create a duplicate. IMHO
Private Companies ARE hidden from all but Record Manager, but Limited Access shows names users can't access in grey. Also, the level of the user doen't matter - except Admins can always see Limited Access records and Managers (once added) can add/remove users/teams.
Also Note:
•A public group or company can have a public and private subgroup or division.
•A private group or company can have a private subgroup or division, if the two records have the same Record Manager.
•A private group or company cannot have a public subgroup or division.
•A private group or company cannot have a limited access subgroup or division.
•A limited access group or company can have a public, private, and limited access subgroup or division.
