isn't it about time that ACT! added the function for a template sequence that clients can use to generate unique ID's for their contacts.
If i want a contact (ONCE ADDED TO THE DATABASE) to get an ID of "WA######" which increments by one, i would only want it to get an ID once it was saved and the record existed in the DB.. If I clicked the NEW CONTACT button by mistake of course i am going ot click the DELETE CONTACT and would not want to waste an id number for that
a GUID number is not something useful when asking a contact on the phone for their ID
Com'on Sage get your act (no pun intended) sorted, this is not something that has only just been thought up, nor the first or 1000th time its been asked about.. and what is it now.. 8 version of ACT in .Net .. should not be HARD to implement
some new users that want to convert from their current CMS (which like a REAL CMS would have unique ID) need someway of being able to continue using such a simple, common requirement
