On the old version of ACT I was able to Sync different databases on the same computer.
This option is gone now that I updated to the 2011.
I used it to make a copy to sync with my Black Berry because I found that using the companion link sync many times erased/changed contacts from both platforms.
This feature is must. I was told I can only sync a database sitting on a different computer
What difference does it make where the database is located?
thanks for listening
The sync must be to another machine... it's designed for remote operation.
If you're looking for a Blackberry sync that works, you might try Handheld Contact. See:

Er-um...not sure if we're talking apples and apples, but I can sync more than one remote on the same machine as the publisher.
If you have ACT! Premium with the Network Sync Service, you can do this. If you have a non-Premium version and are using the built-in application sync service you cannot. This is because application sync requires the Publisher database to be open, so if you have the remote database open on the same machine, the Publisher will be closed and the sync will fail. With Network Sync, the Publisher does not have to be open so you can sync to it with a remote database on the same machine.
