It would be nice if smart tasks could run as a service, with the ACT server running as an email proxy for each user.
Smart Tasks are not very useful if the only time tasks are triggered is when a user is logged in and running ACT.
While somethings may not work this way (eg emails with Outlook), it should work with other areas (like ACT! eMarketing).
It should also have the ability to be administered ... eg on a Contact's Birthday, if you create an activity to call or just auto send an email, it should allow you to have the activity with or email from either a specificed user or with/from the Record Manager for the record.
