I would complete this idea by updating the ID/Status of the company the contact belong to too if the contact is linked to the company.

...I'm guessing because it's implictly a 'many to many' relationship between Opps & Contacts, i.e. a single Opportunity might have multiple associated Contact records, and they may not necessarily all be 'customers' (could be Suppliers, Contractors, Sub-Contractors, Specifiers etc associated with the Opportunity)??
customer would like to run a smart task based on opportunity criteria (eg opportunities that were closed either today or yesterday) and send out an email to someone and have that email have the lookup in format that can be viewed outside of Act! (eg pdf or excel).
