I'd suspect it's set for the lowest-end phone that they support...rather than the 10-15K for the current high-end devices. But, you would still not get that much ... the addition of notes/history would reduce it somewhat. Also, most devices slow down with huge amounts of contacts to index


I have 7000+ on iPhone and Blackberry with Handheld Contact. It has a default limit of 3000, but this can be changed and the new build with have a higher default. See:


But, if you create well designed groups, not many users should really need (or be able to work with) more than 2-3K on a phone
