Add a checkbox that says "Prompt to schedule an OPPORTUNITY when a new Contact is created".
This would be similar to the the feature pictured here, (under Tools menu > Preferences > Calendar & Scheduling tab > Scheudling Preferences button)
We receive this Feature request frequently from Sales and Product Managers who prefer a "placeholder" in their pipeline for every new contact in the database. They are primarily using Opportunity Reports to measure Salesman progress, not Activity or History reports. They prefer to "follow the money", by measuring results (opportunities), rather than measuring a Salesman's efforts in a History or Activity Report.
