Over the last 7 years I may have reset my own E-mail preferences 6-18 times a year.
I teach my clients to count to 10 before they shut down Windows or close the lid to give them the best chance of not losing their Act! Preferences.
By comparison; I never have to reset my Excel, Word or Outlook, QuickBooks, QuoteWerks, iTunes or browser du jour preferences.
Can we fix this?
We have requested self-preserving/repairing Outlook preferences for years. Not long before Ben departed he promised this for v18, seeing it quite doable. Not sure why this dropped off but I do believe him that it could be done. Simply put: user sets the preferences of how they want Act! and Outlook to interact, and this gets saved in the user's MyRecord contact record, so when Act! launches from any computer it automatically configures Outlook that way if it is not already.
