I have been an Act user for many years, however there are some aspects of its operation and usability that continue to frustrate me and i do not understand why they have not been fixed. If some of these have been fixed then i am not aware of them. I have been searching for another CRM because i am frustrated and fed up with these issues below. My list follows.
When viewing a screen displaying groups, categories and contacts within a group, the vertical division bar when moved sideways to adjust the view should stick in its new position just like windows explorer does. Each time i exit this screen and then return, the vertical bar is reset back into its original position. Very frustrating with so much time lost readjusting.
This also applies to the contact screen display column dividers which when i adjust horizontally to see each columns content property, then revert back to their original settings when i return to this screen and then i have to readjust them again. Making these column setting sticky for all screens in the program would be a godsend. Also very frustrating.
An improvement to the user experience for quick and easy scanning through the contact list would be to have the notes section displayed on the right side of the list so that when you scroll up or down the notes contents changes accordingly. This would be huge time saver as when i look through my contact list in any particular category i only want to quickly see what my recent notes were before deciding on whether to enter the contact details to then do something with this contact. If i am scanning the list i do not need to see all of the contacts details at this time.
When displaying a list of contacts, and if i select a contact lower down the list to enter the contacts details and then i exit. the scroll bar is reset to the beginning of the list. Again a big pain and very frustrating. I then need to remember the position in the list and find it again to then go to the next contact. Absolutely fed up with this behavior. Your last actions and settings should be remembered.
I have had to deal with these behaviors for many years and am fed up with them, hence searching for an alternative crm to move to. These issues should have been fixed years ago. Its the general ease and efficiency of use that is important and not just some other feature that many of us may not use much at all. Surely the above behaviors can be easily fixed by the software developers and implemented with an update.
