Install Outlook integration file regardless

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it's my understanding that during the installation process, if ACT! doesn't detect Outlook installed, it doesn't install one or several files that are necessary for e-mail integration?  And if the customer later installs Outlook and wants the integration, our only solution is to uninstall and re-install ACT?

Is there a valid technical reason for this?  If not, can you consider re-thinking that policy?

And Kevin, I think it's also required to reinstall ACT! if Outlook is reinstalled (same version or upgrade).

Yes, would be nice to have a utility to run that would remove the Outlook integration and/or install/register the correct integration files for the current version of Outlook and ACT! without having to uninstall/reinstall ACT!

Mike, you know SalesLogix has had such a batch file for years and years.  And they're right down the hallway.

This hasn't been my direct experience. I recently tested installing Outlook after Act and it integrated without any issues. It may be at one time that was the case. If you have different results please post the details of reproducing.

In some cases the sequence for installation of different Office/ACT! components did require reinstallation of ACT! for proper configuration options, however the latest versions of ACT! have corrected all known scenarios where this is the case and as a result simply attempting to configure the feature will detect and correct the components to allow a user to sucessfully configure the integration.

Well, that's good to know.  I wish there was a way to learn about all of these cool improvements that I'm glad to see get into the product, but seem to get lost in all of the marketing hype that surrounds the shiny metal objects like Cat Scratchpad Fever and redesigned File, Open.
