As an ACT! consultant, I often have to deal with customers who check the box "remember password" but this should say "Forget your password". The reason is that if a person never enters their password, they will forget it. As result, customers can't login when something in the database changes requiring a full name and password.
We would love to have a way to automatically reset the password for the end user.
Most systems have a dual approach such as an email address and a hint such as mothers maiden name, pet's name, etc.
This would have to be part of the user setup but it would allow an easy way to reset the password for end users.
For example, have a link on the login screen that says, "Can't remember password?" This would then allow the user to type in their email address. A Hint screen would come up and, with the correct answer, the user could enter a new password.
Web users could be sent an email with a link to reset the password such as other web services that are currently on the market.
