Adding this as field in a table would be useful to see historically where how long it takes to get out of a stage. This would make a nice Insight chart so customers can do what they can to reduce the sales cycle time.

Think the important factor is that the number of days in a stage is recorded to history every time a stage changes. Knowing how many days in the current stage is of limited value, but being able to search for all history records for Initial Communication - Days in stage would be a really powerful tool.
