Although ACT! understands that the comma generally means last name, first name, ACT! does not have the ability to flip a firstname lastname entry into your preference.  However, there are two hidden fields in the database that you can place onto the Contact Layout, say just above the existing Contact field.  These two fields are the Last Name and First Name fields (one for each).  They are protected, meaning that you can see them but you can't click into them and make changes.  But you could enter the full contact name into the Contact field in whatever order you preferred, and they would appear in the Last Name and the First Name fields, and maybe you could make these two fields larger and bolder and perhaps colored to draw attention.
