Some businesses require that a new opportunity is created for all new contacts added to their ACT database.
Often, sales people will forget to do this.
It would be useful to have a default setting in Preferences somewhat akin to the "Prompt to Schedule Activity on creating a new Contact" that was "Prompt to Create a new Opportunity on creating a new Contact (or Company) record"
Then when a new contact record is added, and saved a prompt to create new opportunity appears. If you say YES, an opportunity window opens linked to the contact that was just created,
