We have the facility to remove (delete) old items in a database such as history and notes, but it would be rather nice if instead of deleting them we could Auto-Archive them, similar to the email autoarchive facility on Outlook.
You could then create an Archive database and have selected items over a certain age transferred to it, keeping your primary database lean and fast.
We would need a fairly comprehensive set of rules/filters to select what gets archived and what doesn't, and the ability to flag certain companies/contacts as exceptions.
As a starting point I would provide options for:
Notes older than X days
History - select which history items are archived - older than X days
Contacts - Unedited contacts older than X days
Opportunities older than X days
File attachments older than X days
Email attachments older than X days
Document attachments older than X days
We would also need a quick and easy way to restore specific items from the archive if required.
