You could select the message, click Attach to ACT! Contacts button, and select the record to attach it to.

Yes, but that functionality is not available (grayed out) for read receipts.

Works for me...ACT! 2012 HF2 Premium, Outlook 2007

Verified (once again that those functinos are grayed out.  Am using ACT Pro 2010 HF1 and Outlook 2010.

ALso verified that the version of ACT I am using is the most current for 2012 Pro.

This info is a little confusing.  What exactly is the full version number of ACT! that you are using?  You mention 2010 which is not compatible with Outlook 2010.  But you also mention 2012 which is compatible with Outlook 2010 32-bit version only.

Sorry for the confusiion I caused.  I am using Act 2012 HF1 with Outlook 2010 32 bit.  All the functionality that I am aware that should be available between the two is.

I have updated to the latest version of ACT - Sage ACT! Pro 2012 Version and Outlook 2010 32 bit, but ACT still does not reconnize a Read Receipt as a valid email. The ACT functionality to Attacht to ACT Contact or Quick Attach is grayed out and not available.
