Hi Mike

Your question is one of the most common ones I come across and personally believe, there is a much more elegant way of achieving what you want

Keith's method is a good one to use as well. Which method you use depends on whether the shortcut will pertain to all contacts (using URL method) or to specific contacts (using the Knowledgebase article method). Also, with the URL method it may be a good idea to place the field under a custom tab, especially if you are using more than one of these fields.
