!Act for thunderbird

by WilliamB on ‎06-28-2011 06:29 AM

Our office is transitioning from outlook to thunderbird. We currently use !Act 2008 and were thinking of upgrading but because of the lack of support for anything other than microsoft ,we decided to look elsewhere for a CRM. Having written code in a previous life, there isn't a whole lot of talent required to invoke a mail client and populate the address, subject, and body fields. It's a shame that the project manager can't see the benefits of such a integration.

Maybe if you guys came out with an !Act lite, (there aren't too many people that actually use all the bells and whistles of the standard version) you could regain some sales instead of loosing longtime customers.

Would love to have Act interact with Thunderbird, then I can finally dump that memoryhog called Outlook.

If it's any help, ACT! 2012 will support GMail...

They used to have an ACT! Lite ... it sold so poorly, they had to give it away as an OEM product.

The problem is that whichever "bells and whistles" can be removed for one people with be one of the small bits another user needs.

While most people use 20% of the product, they are deiiferent features in the 20% for different users.

Seems to me that calls for integration with Thunderbird have been going on for some time.  Isn't it about time someone at Sage Act! took some notice and did something about it.  The obsession with Outlook & Outlook Express is limiting and boring.
