Yes, I'm ranting, and yes I have a suggestion.
It's plain WRONG.
The client has ACT! by Sage Premium 2010 Version 18.104.22.168, Hot Fix 4.
The server has died, I've reinstalled, and the newly installed files on the server are 22.214.171.124, Hot Fix 1.
It won't sync. "Oh" I says to myself, "I'll need to update to HF4". Help | ACT! Update...
at which point I'm told that I have the latest version of ACT!.
I'm an ACC, and I've seen these converstions go back and forth, and I'm frustrated at the blatent incorrectness of this silly statement.
It is not the latest version. 15.1 is. 12.1 is nowhere even close. "Yes Mr Customer, you don't have the latest version" - "But it says I do!".
Now to go and dig out the SP file, upload and stuff about. It shouldn't be this hard guys!
Here is my suggestion:
1. tell 'em that 15.1 (or what-ever is latest at that point in time) is the latest and greatest. Give 'em a hyperlink to see all the juicy goodness they can have if they upgrade.
2. list the Hot Fixes and Service Packs they could upgrade to without purchasing a license.
3. Say, "your product is no longer supported" for those version, but still give a link to download. It's a kindness, it'll show you care.
