Pat Egen has been in the field of computers for over 28 years, working in IT Management for Ryder System in Miami and Unum Provident in Chattanooga. In 1997 she started Patricia Egen Consulting, an IBM Business partner. Her company works on mainframe, midrange and personal computing projects. They specialize in helping businesses better utilize their computing tools and applications. Particular areas of expertise include Act!, Lotus Notes & Domino, email and calendaring applications, OS390 systems programming and capacity planning and building custom business applications using Microsoft Office and Visual Basic and VBA. Pat has earned Act! Certified Consultant status and is a Lotus CLP in Applications Development.
Pat is very active on international standards committees working on various computer protocols and chaired the "IETF Calendaring and Scheduling working group. Two years ago she formed the Calendaring Scheduling Consortium (www.calconnect.org) and currently is on the board of directors and manages the interoperability testing. She was a contributing source for the vCard protocol. She is a frequent speaker at computer conferences on numerous topics.
Other interest involvements include Immediate Past President of the Chattanooga Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), past Director of Human Resources, SHARE Users Group Board of Directors, and member on the NAWBO Task Force studing and preparing a report for the U.S. Office of Government Contracting. The report focuses on Contracts for Women Business Owners.
Pat has a BA in MIS from Florida International University and is married to Donald Egen, who is also Chief Scientist in the business. She has two sons, Tony, a sales consultant, and Michael, an Architect in Phoenix, Arizona.
