I don't see an email view when I select email from the view tab drop down list. I have to select the outlook icon to see my list of emails. I think I have completed the email set up several times. Sent emails appear in the contact history but I don't see any mention of act from the outlook view. Thank you.

If you are referring to the Email button on the main toolbar, this will only show you your emails in ACT! if you have configured the ACT! Email client as your default email client in the Email System Setup in ACT! preferences (Tools > Preferences > Email & Outlook Sync tab > Email System Setup button - Screen 2).
If you selected Outlook, then pressing the button will generate an Outlook email message, and going to View Email will take you to Outlook. I would recommend using Outlook instead of the ACT! Email client as it is a much better email system.
Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.
