unable to open restored database

1. Have used "restore as" to restore ACT9 database from another PC running ACT9 - completed OK

2. However when trying to open, get this message: "The database you are attempting to open must be updated to a newer version. This process may take several minutes to complete...."

3. Agree to proceed & get the following message: "Exceptions occured while executing Db Schema Update Script. Check the errors in C:\Documents & Settings....etc.txt"

4. Click OK & the process starts again with the same messages again & again.

5. The .txt file referred to in 3. is as follows:

Are you able to open the demo database?

Re: unable to open restored database

rogerstagg,

On the original computer, run database maintenance from actdiag.  Then create a new backup and restore that one.

Re: unable to open restored database

Thanks - this looks good. I have tried, however in the interim I ran an update on the original ACT9, thinking that it was an older version of the ACT on the second PC. You know what? Now I can't open the bloody database on the original. I will try to think of something else. Dumb & Dumber....

Re: unable to open restored database

Now I can't even open ACT on second PC to load demo. Will run update to try & fix. This is becoming very character-building

Re: unable to open restored database

I found this thread and am having nearly identical problems. I did open the demo and it converted and opened properly, which must mean the SQL is working properly.....so what does this mean for getting my backed up database open?

Re: unable to open restored database

David,

I have the same problem as here.

I can open the ActDemo database with no problems.

I can also open an older version of my database with no problems.

I can not open my master database with the latest info/updates to it.  I get the error message the previous user entered.

What can I do?

Thank you.
