unable to connect to sync server

I recently started using a new id on my cpu.  I have reinstalled the Act program and set-up a new remote database.  I'm now not able to sync Act files.  I keep getting the error message: Unable to connect to sync server. Make sure accept incoming syncs is checked.  I am accepting incoming syncs and I've tried to use the main cpu's id name and the IP address.  Neither works.  I use to be able to sync under the original cpu id. Can anyone help?

Re: unable to connect to sync server

Had to change main database location on remote cpu to main cpu's IP address. Works as of Nov. 08.

Re: unable to connect to sync server

Which machine had the name changed - remote or publisher?

What version of ACT! (the full build from Help | About)?

Version 2007 9.0

Yes, accept incoming syncs is checked.

Re: unable to connect to sync server

Try turning off "Accept incoming...", restarting ACT! and turning it back on.

Make sure both versions are the same build (in Help | about) - preferably 9.01 + Hotfix 3

Is the user on the Publisher an Admin?

Re: unable to connect to sync server

Didn't work.

Both versions the same. ACT! by Sage 2007 (9.0) Version 9.0.1.162

Yes, the user on the publisher is the administrator and the remote user is the manager.

Re: unable to connect to sync server

The user on the Publisher (administrator) cpu was changed.  It did work under the old user id.  I haven't tried again because we've deleted all the info. from the previous user.

Re: unable to connect to sync server

Is it a different Windows user?

I'd try turning off any firewalls on both systems.
