trying to sync on a laptop

I am trying to sync act on my boss' laptop, and it seems to get stuck on the "syncronizing files" step and will not finish. I thought maybe it just took a while so I started it before I left work yesterday, and when I got to work today, it was still doing that same thing. I just created this remote database a few months ago, but it will not sync. Any suggestions??

Oh man, I hope someone responds to your post!  I am having the exact same problem, and had in fact, JUST been discussing it with MY boss before logging onto this forum, just in case there was anything that could help.  The exact same thing is happening to two of my remote database users; they are syncing, and it seems to going fine, but then it just never ends.  We leave it for hours and hours (overnight, like you) and still, no go.  Anyone out there who can help -  please do!

Try updating both computers with 10.0.3.   ACT! 10.0.3 update addressed a lot of syncing issues.

i installed the service pack on all 3 computers and was able to sync the laptop with only a minor glitch that i was able to correct with the online help.

I have the exact same problem with

 

ACT! by Sage Premium 2009 (11.0) Version 11.1.183.0, Hotfix 1

 

 

my boss' laptop hangs when "Synchronizing records and updates, it only reaches 2.

I would like to contribute.

I use to sync with my laptop but I also use to run some preparations before:

  • Check an reindex both databases
  • Defrag disk.
    • I use Diskeeper which is much faster than Windows defrag and
    • As a matter of fact runs constantly in background

This has allowed me to sync with no problems and about 80% faster.

My database has about 1.500 contacts and 5 years of history (about g.5GB).

ACT 2010 hot fix 2.
