transferring old contacts

Hello all,

I recently fried my motherboard before I had a chance to back up my old copntacts. I'm now on a new pc with a Act pro 2011 and can't seem to figure out how to restore my old contacts since I no longer have a back up from my former version. I was told this was possibe before I even went through all this. Can anyone walk me thru this process or at least point me in the right direction?

Thank you.

Re: transferring old contacts

You need to answer the question ... what are you wanting to restore them from?

Without that information, no one can give an answer to your question

Re: transferring old contacts

if you have the old hard drive, you may find an .alf file, a .adf file and a database files folder.  if you can find these, you can restore.

without that, or a backup, what do you have which might contain the data?  If the hard drive is gone and you dont have the data anywhere else. ?

Ah, ok. Thank you John. We're going to try that.

I'm actually helping someone w/ this, so I'm kind of the middleman without all the info. But this is definitely pointing us in the right direction. Thank you.
