security certificate bad?

This morning I opened ACT!, and tried to roll over some activities - every time I hit OK a bad security certificate window popped up.  It was tied to godaddy and radar.cedexis.com  - it definitely is incorporated with ACT! as every time I tried to close a history window it kept popping up as well (I had like 8 open at once). the window wouldn't close - but I could see the activity recorded in history (after a couple were recorded, I noticed this).

Can someone explain what radar.cedexis.com is and why it is integrated with ACT!, and what's the deal with the security certificate?

Thank you.

oh, ACT! Pro Ver 18.2, update 6   (which also still doesn't solve the RAM leak issue).   Windows 10

Re: security certificate bad?

This is a 3rd party program and maybe attached to your virus checking or performance monitoring. It is not part of ACT!

nope, it's definitely associated with ACT! in some way - I started my remote database to sync, and had the exact same thing happen (and they have different virus checking software). I did notice that it said something about authenticating a remote computer - so it may be because I have a synchronized database set up. but, it's definitely associated with ACT!

Random guess....Could this be some sort of data gathering / performance monitoring stealth-ware that Swiftpage have built into Act!, but that these errors are being invoked now because the associated certificate has expired today (note the expiry date on the Certificate - 25th August 2017).

One of my guys is currently on the phone to Swifties in Newcastle UK asking that question. I suspect that it may well be a lower-level issue than they're trained to handle, but I will report the outcome back here.

 ---------

UPDATE: The Swiftpage UK guys are clueless about this.Might be a Q for Brian Mowka's people.

Re: security certificate bad?

Same issue here, but only for 1 user. When the alert comes up, if I view the certificate it shows 8/25/2017 as expiration. If I manually go to https://radar.cedexis.com in IE from my computer and look at the certificate, it expires 8/25/2019. So I'm wondering if it has since been renewed or it had been renewed a while ago and the PC with the issue isn't picking up the new cert for some reason.

I've tried installing it to both user and local accounts - I thought that worked, then it popped up again. I installed (edit: re-installed certificate) and that seems to have worked now.

The question remains - what does that particular program do? I'm assuming it has something to do with remote database, but would like to know.

Re: security certificate bad?

Happening on more than 1 computer now. I've verified that if I access https://radar.cedexis.com on the same PC getting the SSL warning in Act! that the browser (IE) shows the expiration as 8/25/2019 but Act! shows the expiration as 8/25/2017. Not sure how to resolve that...I figured I would see the old one in the browser too and have to clear out something to make it find the newest certificate.

Re: security certificate bad?

ts_ryan that does sound very feasible. Could it be that affected users are behind a strict firewall regime which prevents 'something' within Act! reaching radar.cedexis/GoDaddy whatever, and picking up the updated renewal date?

Certainly, in the case of our affected clients, we know them to have strict firewalls.
