schedule activity series freeze

schedule activity series freeze

When I click to schedule an activity series Act! freezes then starts hogging a bunch of system resources.  It takes, up to, five minutes before the system recognizes that Act! is causing the problem then it shows a "(not responding)" notice at the top of Act!
When I tested the series it ran fine but when I wanted to really use it it froze... HELP!
 
I am using act6 for windows version 8.
Windows XP SP2

I have edited this post....
....
so 5 minutes after I just posted this my machine came back up and I signed into Act!
The three previous actvity series were showing in the clients activity tab... WEIRD.

Which version exactly? See in the Help > About menu to find the exact version (8.0.xxx)

Sorry to take so long.
Here is my entire setup...
 
Resources:
HP Pavilion 734 n
2 GHz
2 gig of ram
XP SP2
32 bit
 
ACT! by Sage 2006 Version 8.0.2.82
 
Fully licensed.
