Hi all,
I just migrated from Goldmine to ACT2008 (10) standard. The migrate admin tool brought over all of my emails from Goldmine. They show up as email attachments in on the "history" tab for each contact. I am now trying to move the ACT database over to my new computer (Vista32) on which I have installed ACT2008. I backed up the database using the backup utility and ended up with a 614MB zip file. I put this on my new computer and then went through the "restore as" procedure. The procedure starts, then stalls at the point where the window says it is restoring attachments. I need to end the process and I end up with a few database files in the ACT directory (about 1.2MB in the attachments folder), but nothing else, and no database that I can open. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. I am totally new to ACT, so I hope I am just making a simple mistake. Thanks.

goto the machine where your database is
close act
goto start | run | services.msc
stop sql server (act7) service
goto the location where your database files are
copy the < database name>.adf, alf & database files folder and move it to your vista machine
move these files to location on c:\
open act
goto file | open database | select file type act database .adf
should be able to open the database with all attachments

Hi. Maybe you can help me.
I have in one pc ACT 2006 and tomorrow I'm going to install ACT Pro2011 in a new pc. I have to transfer the database from the old program to the new pc/ACT2011.
Will I have problems doing this or will it be a straight forwar process...backup data to flashdrive ans import it to the new ACT?
Tks

Hello Proparents,
Welcome to the ACT! Online Community!
Since you are moving to a new computer, you will create a backup of your database using Act! 2006 (File > Backup > Database), then copy the backup file (*.zip) to the new computer and restore the backup using Act! 2011 (File > Restore > Database > Restore As).
Here is an article with instructions for running the backup and restore procedures: KB Article 19211

I have ACT 2013 PRO on a windows 8 machine.
The machine was attacked and locked up by Russian FBI virus. I can read files in disks but cannot run that computer.
I cannot restore or move to a new computer, something about improper install of MSC SQL.
How can I do it?
Thanks.
