restore problem

After backingup a file created on ACT 2005 when I restore that file using a new name on ACT 2008 it goes through the restore operation but for some reason doesn't create the PAD file so I can open the restored database.

Do you receive any error message during the restore?  In ACT!, go to File > Open Database.  Change the file type to ADF and browse to the location where you restored the database to.  Open the ADF file if present.
