providing a copy of my database to another user

Can I provide a copy of my database to another user when he is using ACT2008 Standard, and I am using ACT2007 for Workgroups?  We are both standalone users.

Re: providing a copy of my database to another user

are you trying to share and sync the databases? or jus give him a copy of it? If your just trying to simply give him a copy, you could, under File, save a copy of the database. Save a bank copy if your just trying to pass along the layout and custom fields and such without all the contacts.  Alternately, you could create a backup of the datasbe and give it to him. HE can then perform a restore as on it.  He has a newer version of ACT so when he opens it, it will update the database to his version.

The flipside is that he wont i turn be able to send you a copy of his database.

I dont think you can share/network a database unless your both running the same version of ACT

Hi Matt you are right.

You cannot share an ACT! database across different versions.

Kind regards,
