The protexis service after about 2 - 3 mins of being restarted goes back to "starting" .I have followed the advice given on ACT! knowledge Base still same. Hvae done a repair and a complete removal (using ACT! uninstaller) and reinstall still problems goes on.Please help before network Administrator stings me up !!!!

I had a very similar issue with the protexis service that might just be what you are experiencing. On a Vista workstation, there was file file named 'program' with no file extension in the root directory of c:\.
The presence of this file completely prevented Protexis from starting, delete the file and all is well.
The file was actually scan results from an Anti-Virus program. Checking out the Microsoft KB, a file with this name can apparently cause many strange issues with windows.
