phpMyAdmin --> Act!12

hello,

I would like to use phpMyAdmin to query my Act!12 database.

Is there anyone who knows where to find the SQL database files on a Windows machine?

And then, how to proceed to get phpMyAdmin querying the database?

Thks in advance,

Gilles.

I've never done any work with phpMyAdmin, but the .adf is the ACT! database file. The .adf file is the equivolent of a standard mdf file.

Re: phpMyAdmin --> Act!12

ok thanks,

but can we access this .adf file using standard SQL queries?

Can you provide us with an example if any?

Cheers,

Gilles.

Yes, you should be able to view the database in a read only format by logging into SQL management studio, here your server name will be your PCName/ACT7 and you can login with a windows account with valid permissions, or you can view the data through the OLE provider, for this method you login using an act user account.

Here is some additional information on data access methods in ACT!

Thanks so much,

sounds like we need Act Reader to access the Act SQL database, do you know if this is a special product, a freeware, a product that is part of an Act sales offer???

In other words, how can I get Act Reader?

Cheers,

Gilles.

It comes free with the premium product, the reader enables ODBC access to the database.
