passwording ACT 2010

Though I have been retired for many years I still use ACT but only for our personal, domestic purposes now.  Goodness knows why I did so but I have passworded ACT and as only I and my wife use this software at home, a password is not necessary.  How do I remove passwording to access our ACT database?

Re: passwording ACT 2010

Hello buzzibbee,
To remove your database password:
- Go to Tools > Manage Users
- Double-click your user name in the list
- Click Reset Password.. leave password blank
- Uncheck option to change password at next log on
- Check option for password never expires
- Click Finish
- Repeat for any additional users in the list
- Click Close
- Close and reopen ACT!

Note: If you go into the manage users screen and edit a user that you removed the password for, you will still see a row of asterisks in the password fields - this does not mean there is a password.

Re: passwording ACT 2010

After you login to the ACT! database go to File | Set Password and set the blank password field as the new password.
