password help

So...i got a new computer today because my computer is too slow...was able to put act program on there no problem...backed up my database than used the "move" function...which basically removed the database from my program..put on a flashdrive and opened on new computer...it is asking for a password when trying to restore the database.  i have never used a password before.  so i went back to my original computer and tried to restore the act database and now it too is asking for a password...so my entire database right now is stuck in limbo.  I have read a ton of posts but havnt seen any with the exact same problem as mine.  Any tips would be helpful.  Does anybody know if the password has any character requirements? that may help me at least guess what my password may be..but as I said I have never had to use a password before, and don't remember selecting to use one.

Re: password help

Hi fino,

Try entering no password - leaving it blank?

"Does anybody know if the password has any character requirements?"

Only that the password IS case sensitive, the user name is NOT case sensitive

Re: password help

Most commonly when people think they didn't have a password, it's because they didn't. A password isn't required - but a username is. If there is only one user in the database, and that user doesn't have a password - it'll never ask you to 'log in' it'll just open the database right up. Restoring a database however does require the username and password (if there is one).

Are you 100% sure the username you are entering is correct? There are a few different ways to find out what your username is from a locked database, but there's no easy way of determining the password (obviously for security reasons).

Swiftpage technical support do have tools that can unlock your database, you can speak to the sales team and they'll be able to direct you to the right support. Alternatively, check out this KB for some tips of recovering your details:
