object reference not set to an instance of an object

Using ACT 2008 on Windows XP here at work, and trying to connect to a shared database... It seems to make the connection, asks for username & password, logs on, and then presents an error message:

"object reference not set to an instance of an object"

tried connecting to the test database, same issue. created a new database, same issue....

This all worked fine on Monday, (and since August, when we installed the software) and the Database is up and running on another computer....

Any help would be appreciated...

Re: object reference not set to an instance of an object

If you disable the firewall and or antivirus on either or both ends does this problem go away?

On the master database have you removed any of the standard layouts?

On the master database to to Help, about and then click on database info. Test opening again.

Try deleting preferences on the local machine using actdiag

Does the local actdemo database open and if so then it is probably connection or permission issues
