When I am in a contact record and write a letter from a template, it does not get recorded in the history tab. I have to go and manually attach it from a save file. There must be a setting somewhere to have it attach automatically. Can someone help me? Thanks in advance for the help.

Most likely the ACT! macros are disabled in Word. You usually get to them through the options in Word. If disabled, enable them.
