installing act 2010 on win 7 professional

I have been using ACT 2010.

I have been running it on a laptop with Win XP and a desktop PC with Win XP

I have been able to synchronize between the two with no trouble

I just got a new desktop PC with Win 7 professional

What do I need to know about installing ACT 2010 onto the new PC running Win 7 professional so it will sync with the laptop running Win XP?

For example where do I tell the installer to install Act?

You don't need to do anything special. The program with install in the 32-bit programs area. You'll want to put your database in the public documents area.

Thanks Roy,

Next, how do I sync with my laptop given that I think the database has to be changed for my new computer?

It is possible to move the host database to a new computer and maintain a previous sync setup however the effort is more appropriate where there are several remotes. For a simple setup like yours the easiest is to make sure you performa final sync before moving the host database to the new computer and then after doing the restore as on the new computer, create a new remote database for the laptop.
