I couldn't find anything in FAQ's: Installed act2008 on vista business 32 (to restore from older laptop w/XP PRO)but when registering I get an error saying I need to uninstall SQL Server 2005 standard edition, reinstall ACT, then register. Now I have no SQL server at all. Microsofts' website doesn't list 2005 as being compatible with Vista, only SQL 2008 but I'm afraid THAT won't be compatible with ACT 2008!
1. Should I d/l 2005 OR 2008 SQL Server??
2. I'm really trying to get my 500+ contacts and calendar moved to a new Blackberry via outlook and thought ACT to Outlook, Outlook to BB would work best.

Not sure where the info about not working on Vista, but check this:
If you install 2008 on Vista, it should install SQL Express 2005 as your database back end and you should be good to go.

Thanks MM. I eventually got someone at act that did a remote control over my comp and corrected the problem. First "chat" session wanted me to buy support. I was simply trying to install.
