individual contacts

we are trying to add a list of contacts for a mailing list.

we did this and added as a group, but you can only put notes in the entire group and not the individual. (what is the best way to accomplish this)

they do not belong to the same company.

The Group records and the Contact records maintain separate notes.  If you are in the Group view, then the Notes tab is for the Group entity, not the contacts.  You would have to go to the contact's record to enter in a note that will be associated with them.

Why are you adding a note and why do you need the note?
