I recently purchased an act data customer file from an Act 2010 12.0 user and need to import it into my Act 2008 (10.0) Version 10.0.3.182 and cannot do it. What are my options and can anyone help me do it.

If all you have is the file then the only (and cheapest ) solution is to upgrade to the current version of the ACT! program.

When I called support, the said that I either had to purchase a third party solution "export IT" or install version 10 which they no longer offer. If I purchase version 10, will I have trouble installing it since 08 will still be on my system (xp)? As you can probably tell, I'm not very saavy when it comes to Act and don;t want to screw things up.

The new version would replce your 2008. You should get 2012 which will upgrade all your databases.

I can upgrade to 2012, however, I was told by customer support that I would still be unable to import the data from my friends version 10 and include all the notes. Getting conflicting information. To be clear, I want data from my friends act v10 imported to my Act v8.

OK, here's the deal. the file you have I assume is an ACT! backup file. You would be able to do a restore as of that fiel onto ACT! 2012 and the fiel will be updated. then you open your database and ACT! will update it to 2012. then you can import the other database into your databse because they will both be the same version.

fter opening in ACT! 2012 it will be updated and be a 2012 database.
