help

I am trying to get ACT set up and keep getting the following message:

TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup
------------------------------
SQL Server Setup cannot write system databases to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\, because it contains files from a previous installation. To continue, move the databases from the specified folder, or specify a different installation folder. Then run SQL Server Setup again.
Any advice would be helpful.  I am running other programs and dont't want to make changes to them

Re: help

No, your other programs should be fine. The MSSQL.1 folder is solely for the use of ACT!'s instance of SQL.

Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.

Re: help

could try installing SQL Express 2008 and for the instance name call it ACT7, then try installing ACT!.. that way ACT will use a newer SQL and you will be ACT 2011 compliant if you upgradeSmiley Happy

Re: help

Hello adeluise,
It sounds like existing files in the MSSQL.1 folder are interfering with the install. Try browsing to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\ and rename the MSSQL.1 folder to "MSSQL.1.OLD". The try the installation again.
