error accessing remote database

error accessing remote database

when i am not connected to my home network and when i try to open my remote database, i'm getting an error "an attempt was made to access the framework without having logged on to a database. please log on to a database first."  i can open the database without a problem when connected to my home network.  i have tried everything from deleting and recreating the .pad file to following the extensive instructions on how to completely uninstall act and reinstall all the parts separately and i'm still getting the above error.  HELP! p.s. using act 10.0 v 10.0.3.182 hotfix 1

Megan,

Are you able to open any database (ex: Act! demo or create a new database) when you are not connected to the home network?

 

Here are steps to test:

- while connected to network, open the Act! demo

- close Act!

- disconnect from network

- launch Act! and open Act! demo

 

Do you get the same error?

 

While off of the network, go to the Help > Register Act! menu item and see if it still shows as registered?
