I also cannot see the custom layouts. I had restored the database to a new folder (using save-as), and copied the .aly files over. However, the Contact view custom tabs I created are now showing.
Is there any specific name identifiying the custom .aly files that I should look for, that would show they are different than the defaults? I have several folders since my server crashed, was able to properly restore and view a few weeks ago, and not cannot get them to display. It seems like this ocurred after I downloaded Microsoft Office 2013, but I can't see how that is related.

What version of ACT! are you using and how many users? File - Help to get complete version info.
You should have installed Outlook before installing ACT! ????
I'm jsut guessing that you are using ACT!2013 Pro
How to install ACT!2013 Pro
After I copy/paste layouts from one folder to another db layout folder,
I close ACT!, Start/Run ACTDIAG and detach that DB with the new layouts.
then close ACTDIAG and open that desired ACT! db.. Cheers - FSB
