copy a field into the proprietary " last name " field

ACT PRO 18 W10 local data-base french version

hello,

for practical reasons i would like to copy the values from my field " name" into a proprietary field " last name" because it make quick search easier

( by clicking "search/name" act pop up "last name" by default !)

but i can't find the "last name" field into  the "exchange field" or "replace field" option

i don't want to reimport my database which contains already various imformations including attachements etc.

thanks for any help

Last Name is a system field and is normally populated by ACT splitting out the information put into the Contact field. It is not avalible to use as a copy into field but can be copied from. What use are you making of the ACT Contact field?

Re: copy a field into the proprietary " last name " field

It seems like something is wrong if you only have firstnames in Contact field. You may need to export your contact information and bring back in so that things end up where they should be. You would need to export first and last names and then concatenate and import them back as a contact field. To make sure they ended up back in the correct record you would also need to export the UID field and make this the de-duplication field.

You would also need this add-on to make all this work.

Assuming the field is showing in the layout, simply right click on the field and choose Lookup from the context menu.
