cannot send email

I am new to Act by Sage, but have been using Act since the 80's or early 09's. It's much, much more complicated (of course). I set up email in preferences, but when I try to send an email, I get "Library not registered" error message. What is that and how do I get it resolved? Much obliged, if someone can help me out here. Re: cannot send email

What version of ACT! (full build from Help | about)?
What email system are you attempting to setup - Internet Mail, Outlook, Outlook Express, etc?

Re: cannot send email

Whoops. I kinda left something out of my question.

Act for Sage 2006. I originally tried setting up email with Outlook 2003. When I got the error message, I set up with Internet Mail and got the same error message again. By the way, I'm using Windows XP Pro.

Thanks a ton for trying to help me.

Re: cannot send email

What is the build in ACT! Help | About?

If it's not 8.02, can you download and apply the patch. You can download the current patch from -

Re: cannot send email

That Microsoft support page looked like it was right on the problem, but the download did not work.

Let me tell you something else. When I try to email a contact, the screen initially shows "initializing mail merge", then it gives me the error - "Library not registered" notice.

Does that help you figure out my problem?

Thanks again.

Re: cannot send email

When you say the download doest't work... you mean you did the download and still have the problem?

Did you try the 2nd fix on that page?

If you are running a 32-bit version of the Windows Operating System, use the following commands at a command prompt to manually
     register the scripting components.

          regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\vbscript.dll
          regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\jscript.dll
          regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\dispex.dll
          regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\scrobj.dll
          regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\scrrun.dll
          regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\wshext.dll
          regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\wshom.ocx

Re: cannot send email

Not sure which DLL isn't properly registered. The only other user in these forums with that issue ended upformatting their drive and reinstalling XP with all apps and then it all worked.

Before suggesting that: Did you check you have the latest build?
